Our Legacy & History
A lanky 6'7 19-year-old needed a summer job in 1953. His father trekked around fixing small town printing presses. So that summer this jolly green giant found himself in an unknown town called Garland trying to save up money to get back to college. He soon knocked on Garland Furniture's door where the store-owner, Mr. Stevens, decided to give this kid a shot. The kid was my grandfather, Paul Peavey.
Needless to say, he never left Garland. Mr. Stevens and my grandfather instantly clicked. After the summer of 1953 he put a ring on his college sweet-heart and swept her back to Garland Furniture to help run the business on the principle that every customer, no matter who or where they came from, deserved to be treated and serviced with respect, dignity and honor.
Ever since that summer in 1953 my family has been dedicated to providing quality furniture with a level customer service only a "mom and pop" shop can provide right here in the heart Historic Downtown Garland.
Although my grandfather is no longer with us, his legacy continues as my father, Kerry Peavey and I seek to carry out this same mission that has kept Garland Furniture going for 70 years..
We love our customers and consider it a blessing to serve you.
